Research into Genres

Post-Hardcore music is a genre of music that has been created with a huge influence from hardcore punk. It is also known to be close to the experimental rock genre.

More popular in USA then in UK.

Originally started in the late 1980s from the United States, one of the first bands, "Fugazi", were signed by Dischord Records.

Post-Hardcore's fan base grew in the late 1990's leading the way for acts to be signed by Major record labels, including Island Records, who have signed bands such as "Thrice" and "Thursday".

Around the year 2003 a new style of post-hardcore bands were created and become known to the music scene, these types of Post Hardcore bands included more pop punk and alternative rock sound styles into their music.

Thanks to the help of MTV the Post-Hardcore band, "The Used" was given mainstream recognition, helping them go on to being awarded gold certifications on album sales for their first two studio albums.
